A 20 ft office has a 160 sq ft footprint (20 ft x 8 ft), which suits a site supervisor or a small office. A 40 ft office has a 320 sq ft footprint (40 ft x 8 ft), with room for several desks or an office and meeting area. The double-wide covers 640 sq ft (40 ft x 16 ft). Interior space is slightly smaller than the footprint because of framing and insulation.

Container Office vs. Job Site Trailer or Office Lease
A container office is a durable steel alternative to job site trailers and short-term office leases. You own the unit, and when a project ends you can move it to the next site or repurpose it. Each office is built off-site, so it arrives finished instead of being constructed on your property.
Delivery, Site Prep and Permits
- Delivery: Our logistics partners usually deliver on a flatbed tilt trailer and set the office in place. As long as a truck can back into the space, the unit can be dropped there. Crane and forklift placement are also available. Delivery cost depends on your location, so contact us for a delivery quote. We sell to customers nationwide and arrange international and island shipping.
- Foundation: Our FAQ lists concrete slabs, piers, gravel pads and railroad ties as recommended foundations. See typical costs in our site prep and foundation guide.
- Permits: Requirements depend on your city or county and on how you’ll use the office. Before you order, confirm zoning, permits and setbacks with your local authorities. We provide the product specifications they may request. See our permitting guide.
Lead Times
Our office model pages list a standard lead time of 8 to 12 weeks for most projects. Contact us for the current production schedule.
New or Used Container?
Whether your office is built from a new or used container is up to you. Our used containers are cargo-worthy grade: no holes, solid floors, working cargo doors, and wind and watertight. They cost less but may show cosmetic dings and dents. Read more about new vs. used containers for offices.
Financing for Container Offices
Businesses can apply for commercial financing with fast approvals and funding. Applicants typically need an EIN, annual revenue and other documents, plus 2 to 3 years of business and personal credit history. Personal financing options are also available.
